eircom Ltd. - Dial Before You Dig Service

eircom's Dial Before You Dig service is provided to facilitate customers requiring information on the existing eircom infrastructure prior to any works taking place in any given area.

Why contact us?
Customers should contact eircom's Dial Before You Dig service prior to the commencement of any excavations or site works. Maps of the existing eircom networks will be provided in order to avoid cable breaks and customer outages.

Information Required
To help us speedily respond to your request, we will require, at a minimum, the following information from you:
  • Your Name.
  • Your Contact Telephone number during normal working hours.
  • The exact location of your proposed works (preferably a site map).
  • The extent and nature of the works.
  • The date you propose starting excavations.
  • The address to which we will email or post the maps.

Response Times
In general the turnaround time for supplying maps is five days. However, where multiple maps are required to meet a request this may take longer. So please remember, when requesting maps from the eircom Dial Before You Dig service allow five working days from date of receipt by eircom to date of dispatch by eircom.

Please note: the information contained in these drawings is confidential and should not be disclosed to any third party without the express written consent of eircom plc. The drawings provided are not to be photocopied or reproduced in any way.

Legal Disclaimer: The information given is compiled from records and is believed to be correct. There may however be departures from the course (s) and depth (s) shown or indicated. There may also be items of eircom plant of which no record is held. The Dial before you dig service is an information service only and is designed to assist those undertaking underground excavations to do so in a safe manner and in a manner which avoids unnecessary damage to eircom underground cables. 

It should be noted, however that the primary onus to locate eircom cables rests with the person or undertaker who carries out the excavation, using means including but not limited to the digging of trial holes at regular intervals to ascertain the actual depth of the eircom cables or by use of electronic cable detection equipment for example a "cat and jenny". The information is therefore given without prejudice to the legal rights of eircom Limited to compensation should eircom plant be damaged.

How to contact us:
Contact us in one of four ways to avail of the eircom Dial Before You Dig service. All four facilities are monitored during normal working hours - 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays.

These four ways are :
  1. Email your request to: pdbureau@eircom.ie
    (Please attach a site location map in .pdf format showing the location and extent of the works).

  2. Fax your request to: 01 7018856.
    (Please include a site location map showing the extent of the works on the fax).

  3. Call eircom on 1901.
    When prompted say "Fault Report", then "New Fault". From the list of options offered say "Other Fault"  the system will ask if you have a different fault query, say "Yes". You will then be transferred to a Customer Service Representative.  Ask for a "Map Information" request through the Dial Before You Dig service. Give the details requested. The Dial Before you Dig service will call you back at the telephone number you supplied.

  4. Post your request to:
